2017 event postponement

For the upcoming spring, University of Phoenix Stadium continues to prepare for the 2017 NCAA Men’s Final Four Basketball Championships. In addition to the excitement inside the stadium, the Great Lawn will be used as the Fan Fest location for corporate sponsors and all ticket holders coming to the event. With the two semi-final games and championship game, we expect over 150,000 visitors using both the stadium and Sportsman’s Park.

With this Great Lawn usage, we are tasked with ensuring the turf is in great condition during the Final Four. The proximity of the Out West Balloon Fest weekend dates and the start of load-in for the Final Four allows for very little recovery time and limited options in the event of inclement weather over your event weekend.

After our discussion regarding the continued success and growth of the Out West Balloon Fest relies of the use of the Great Lawn, I feel we agree it in the best interests of both Rojo Event Management and Aerial Solutions to postpone the 2017 event. We look forward to continuing the Out West Balloon Fest next spring and making the 2018 event bigger and better than ever.

What is a "Hare and Hound" race?

A single balloon launches and is declared the "Hare" balloon. The rest of the balloons are the "Hounds" and chase the "Hare" balloon. The "Hare" balloon lands and sets up a target that the "Hound" balloons attempt to hit with a bean bag dropped from their balloon. The balloonist who hits closest to the center of the target wins a prize.

What is a "Declared" competition:

The BalloonMeister selects 3 landing zones based on the wind and weather conditions for the morning, that is marked with a target. Each pilot then has to "declare" which landing zone they intend to fly to. The pilot who is closest to the target of their declared landing zone wins a prize.

How much are the kid zone tickets:

1$ each or 25 for 20$.

What time will the balloons be on display for the glow?

The balloons begin to inflate at sunset and glow as long as their fuel allows. This means balloons are usually up from about 6:30 to approximately 8:30pm, conditional on weather. Come out early to watch the pilots and crew set up equipment, and enjoy the other activities going on.

Can I purchase tickets at the door?

Yes, general admission tickets are available for purchase at the door.

Can I pre-purchase tethered rides?

No, tethered rides are sold on-site only and are given on a first come, first serve basis. A waiver must be signed.

What does my general admission ticket get me?

General admission includes admission into the event, live music, access to glowing balloons.

What activities cost extra?

Activities with additional cost are the Kidszone, tethered balloon rides, food and beverage, and retail items available for purchase from vendors.

Is there a charge for parking?

Yes parking is $5 per event.

Is the event handicap/wheelchair accessible?

Definitely! We have handicapped parking and the event is held on a grass field and in a portion of the parking area. In fact, one of our balloon pilots is Michael Glen, the worlds first paraplegic hot air balloon pilot. He operates his balloon from a specially designed seated basket.

Can I bring a camera?

Absolutely! Balloon events are a blast to photograph and produce some stunning photos. We encourage you to share them on our Facebook page!
